The MICROBIOTA project is a collaborative project of industrial research, experimental development and innovation in the Community RIS3CAT “INNOAPAT”, managed by ACCIÓ and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The MICROBIOTA consortium has the common goal of making research and experimental development of probiotics, prebiotics and symbiotics that influence intestinal microbiota so that its modulation positively affects consumers and animal health.
In this project, Anaxomics will build and implement big data- and Systems Biology-based tools to improve the performance of food companies that want to validate new probiotics and prebiotics to modulate microbiota. The expected outputs of the project are:
- To identify the mechanism of action of prebiotic, probiotic and symbiotic products, in order to provide scientific support for health claims of food and identify new strategies and marketing research.
- To identify biological targets with a different behaviour due to the interventions (pre- / probiotics) to further facilitate future studies.
- To distinguish the effect of an intervention in different phenotypes (diabetes, hypertension…) to get the maximum benefit from interventions.
